    What is a Tablet PC


    The name Tablet PC has become very familiar to everyone these days. A Tablet PC a miniature version of the laptop, but with many differences. Tablet PCs are small in nature and provides limited computing features compared to Laptops.

    Tablet PCs are generally touch based, which means you can perform most of the operations with your fingers rather than using a mouse and keyboard like traditional computers. Apple iPad is one of the most popular tablet computers in the market. Microsoft recently announced Windows 8 operating system, which is optimized for touch based tablet computers. The Windows 8 tablets are expected to offer a tight competition for Apple iPad and other popular tablet computers in the market

    Difference between Laptops and Tablets


    Size: The main difference between a Laptop and Tablet is its size. Tablet PCs are usually 6 inch to 12 inch in size but laptops are usually 12 inch and higher. A typical laptop for business use would be about 15" screen size.

    Keyboard and Mouse: Tablet PCs are optimized for touch and most operations are performed by using the fingers. In most cases, there will no keyboard or mouse attached. Most tablet PCs including Windows 8 tablets and Apple iPad tablets have built-in software keyboard where you can touch the letters and use it like a keyboard. However, since such keyboards are software based and occupy a significant portion of the screen, it won't be as friendly as a physical, external keyboard.

    Some tablet computers allow attaching external mouse and keyboards. Even though it is not a feature of operating system, Windows 8 Tablets are generally designed to attach external input devices.

    Weight: When compared to laptops, tablets are lighter in weight. Tablets are meant to carry easily when you travel. Some tablet computer would even fit your pocket.

    Purpose: Tablets are usually meant to carry while you travel and perform casual tasks like browsing, reading books, play light games and do minor documentation. Laptops are meant for business use, computing, programming, documentation, serious gaming and almost any other computing tasks that can be done with a desktop computer.

    What is a Tablet PC?


    Tablet can be defined as a small computer having some characteristics of a personnel computer. A tablet is portable and it is equipped with a touch screen as a primary input device. Users can interact with the tablet with the help of touch screen. A tablet looks smaller than a notebook computer and larger than a smart phone.

    Windows tablets have not been very popular until Apple introduced the iPad. The release of iPad by Apple changed the tablet market and iPad became the largest selling tablet computer. Windows 8 could change that scenario. Most big players like HP, Dell, Lenovo and Sony are gearing up to release Windows 8 ready tablets in the next few years.

    A tablet computer is a complete mobile computer which is larger than a personal digital assistant, which is integrated into a flat touch screen and primarily operated by touching the screen. It often uses an onscreen virtual keyboard or a digital pen rather than a physical keyboard.

    Software applications for tablets will be same of the notebook computer. It consists of office suites, web browsers, games and different applications.
